The Gardeners Bothy featured on Grand Designs in September 2021.
Sheed Stonemasonry worked alongside Staran Architects, we carefully restored and transformed this neglected B-listed Bothy into a beautiful family home.
The project involved stripping down an area of the walled garden for plant and machinery access. We then rebuilt the walled garden with a gated entrance to the garden. The families initials were hand carved onto the lintel, creating a striking feature.
The team also carried out structural alterations to connect the old and new parts of the family home, which was finished with lime mortar repointing, creating a stunning finish to this self build project, retaining the charm and magic that the 150 year old structure provides.

Sheed Stonemasonry carried out masonry works to this traditional property. We replaced one of the upper lintels which had split and sections of the moulded cornice on the bay window which had lost its detail using the appropriate sourced stone, corsehill sandstone.

Sensitive stone cleaning was also carried out ensuring no damage was done to the stonework and gave it that much needed face lift.

It was carried out with impeccable attention to detail and Callum’s thorough understanding of the materials he was working with was that of a professional tradesman. The work carried out by Callum and his team has transformed the property. I will continue to use ‘Sheed Stonemasonry’ on all future projects and have recommended him to fellow colleagues. Linda Cooper - Aberdour
Callum made a superb job of rebuilding and repointing my old stone cottage wall, built around 1840. The neighbours were just admiring it again today!
Not only that but he was a very clean and tidy worker, and so pleasant to deal with. I can recommend him, with no reserves at all.
